Special thanks to Consultant Opthalmologist, Dr Brennan of the Ophthalmology Department who carried out my eye surgery recently. Extremely grateful and thankful to her for her incredible skill and expertise in carrying out the surgery. Absolutely thrilled with the results, life changing for me and I can't thank Dr Brennan enough. I sincerely appreciate everything that all the Nurses and Theatre staff did for me in the Eye Surgery Day Case Unit on the day I attended.
At the follow up appointment, after surgery, I wanted to say how much I appreciated Dr Brennan's time, kindness and understanding whilst I discussed an issue which was important to me. She was extremely empathic and kind. Her actions were truly appreciated and they went a long way to repairing the upset caused by a certain Doctor on the day of surgery.
The interaction was brief, but my personal space was not respected, I was spoken to in a very condescending tone and was utterly humiliated and offended by a remark made all in a matter of minutes.
I divulged personal information and feel they immediately used it to humiliate and patient shame me with a throwaway remark. Spoke volumes as to the underlying character of this doctor. I feel they require supervision, especially around vulnerable patients, and should have minimal patient contact. I didn't deserve to be spoken to the way they did. Felt uncomfortable in their presence and thoroughly offended by their manner.
Arrogance is used by the weak, while kindness is used by the strong.
