"Being let down by the NHS"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as a carer),

In April whilst my wife was in hospital (golden jubilee) she fell and broke her ankle and leg.

Moved around various hospitals until she was discharged after 5 months still not really fit for discharge.

She was given a consultation in Glasgow (30 miles away) so hospital transport was arranged on the day of appointment.

No transport turned up, waited, phoned the transport office, no answer, while we hung on, I tired to phone the fracture clinic, no answer, so the only way a appointment wasn’t missed was to progress to Glasgow.

Arrived late as I had to push her in a wheel chair (I am in my late 60s) through the streets of Glasgow after finding somewhere to park and feeding the parking meter.

The consultant asked us if a ambulance had turned up, we of course said no. As the injury happened whilst in the care of the NHS, in hospital, you would have thought they (NHS) could have least have had the common decency to let us know that they weren't going to turn up.

Also when a complaint was made we were told to mind our own business Some care service.

My wife has got another hospital appointment this week, we decided not to even bother them as we couldn’t stand the stress of waiting wondering when and if they would turn up. So, it will be me again taking her to Glasgow and pushing her though the streets.
