When my baby was around 5 months old, we raised some concerns with our health visitor. We were given a referral to the dietician and she helped us to rule out some allergies. We quickly realised that she likely had cows milk protein allergy. She is now almost 1 and we are about to be discharged from the service. Throughout the last year, the service from all of the professionals involved has been amazing. Considering this is a very manageable condition, at no point was I made to feel silly or like our concerns didn't matter. We were given a prescription for milk and the staff at our GP practice were always very helpful - including the times we ran out while on holiday or away from the local pharmacy.
The advice on reintroducing milk products was given in leaflets, but we also had a number of phone appointments which were excellent. As I work full time, having a text to confirm appt, then the appt done over the phone was a massive help. Each time I spoke to a member of the dietetic team they assured me that no question was silly and I was encouraged to contact them at any time. The whole process was very efficient and the staff involved at every point were caring, compassionate and kind.
