"Liquid antibiotic for conjunctivitis?"

About: General Practices in Shetland

(as a service user),

I visited the GP with my little one with conjunctivitis.

Symptoms like medium swollen eye lid's, sticky pus (no fever, & the white bit was fine, clear) and the doctor confirms the diagnostic and prescribed an antibiotic oral solution, 5ml four times a day for 7 days.

On the NHS website for conjunctivitis is recommended local treatments like eye cream (cream with antibiotic in it).

Here, in Shetland, seem like all the kids are seen by general GP and we don't have access to a paediatrician.

How can I find if it was given the right treatment?

Thank you for sharing your experience. We would like to look into this in more detail for you and would be grateful if you would contact Lisa Watt, Primary Care Manager, at lisa.watt@nhs.scot to let us know which GP you saw.
