"A & E department , Daisyhill Hospital"

In February this year (having lost my large bowel following Toxic Megacolon in July 2021 thus having a bag\stoma) I had to go to Daisy Hills a&e as my stoma had stopped working and I was in severe pain and vomiting.

As soon as I got there it was realised I was pretty ill and I was seen by Dr's/nurses despite the immense work load with dozens of people needing their care also.

Each member of staff in a&e should be awarded medals for their dedication and commitment under horrendous strain and stress especially since the start of Covid when GP's stopped face to face consultations.

At this point I will give my opinion and say I think GP's need to resume duties as they were to alleviate difficulties for patients and to allow a&e to resume some form of normality as stated Accidents /Emergencies?

I've been unfortunate health wise and thus been in a&e on many, many occasions over the last 6 years. Its both dangerous with staff trying to do the best they can, time consuming for everyone with corridors filled full of beds, trolleys and patients receiving IV treatment.

There is not enough room to even speak to patients in privacy and elderly, confused & many very ill patients have to sit for hours in chairs often in great pain, vomiting and vulnerable.

The staff are marvellous but can only do what's possible with minimal staff (many agency staff whom don't always know how the place normally runs/where everything is kept), equipment, proper space and ward routine. No wonder so many nurses are leaving the job....I say employ and Pay for permanent staff, giving them a decent wage, proper working conditions and everything they rightly deserve,
