I attended a&e with severe abdominal pain & vomiting and was attended to as quickly as staff could. I lost my large bowel in July 2021 due to Toxic Megacolon and thus have a stoma which had stopped working. In due course I was seen by a doctor and had blood tests & scans which revealed I had a strangulated hernia nest to the stoma.
The Staff in a&e were wonderful and gave me pain relief and medication to ease vomiting. I was taken to Female Surgical where I had to wait quite a while for surgery as I am on Warfarin which must be reversed before surgery can be done. The staff however gave me lots of pain relief & anti sickness medication and I was on iv fluids etc
After 2 days Mr Hashmi performed the surgery. I did have an adverse reaction to patient controlled pain relief but this was then altered and staff in High Dependency Unit were wonderful under the direction of Sister Jennie, a ray of light. I felt I'd been well looked after by all staff.
I then was moved back to Female surgical where my care can only be described as 1st Class. Wad seen daily by one of consultants...Mr Hashmi, Mr Babiker Mr Mahood and Dr Ross. I couldn't put into words how grateful I am to have all you expertise .
The house doctor, Dr McConville often went over above to ensure I was kept comfortable and had everything needed to ensure a smooth recovery, The Physios Fiona and her team were also brilliant.
Finally I want to hugely thank Ward Sister Sinead & all the nurses, catering staff, dietican for your wonderful care. I must add one name - thenight nurse, Mel, who was so efficient yet made me laugh so much...the best medicine!
I do hope I haven't forgotten anyone ...please don't be offended if I did....my mind is def not as clear as it once was. Thank You all for such marvellous treatment & kindness, I'll never forget you all.
"Marvellous treatment and kindness"
