I went to A&E with a big issue which appeared to be a flare up associated with a previous major orthopaedic operation a few years ago.
I was dealt with fairly by reception. I was soon called in by the triage nurse Donna, and she listened well and checked the area appropriately.
I then waited to be called into the doctors' area and, before too long, 3 of us were called into their waiting room.
I was last to be seen.
Within 30 minutes or so I was seen by the young doctor, James. Again, he listened attentively as I related my issues and then made a decision for me to go to xray.
This was a lengthy wait, as I expected, but I was then called forward and I was treated well and sympathetically by the radiographer.
Pictures taken and checked, she then returned me to the waiting room for the doctor to assess the result.
He came after another short delay and explained his analysis which was nowhere near as worrying as I had feared. I was given a full explanation of his analysis and expectations. He then gave me my prescribed medication and advice in a very understanding way. Then I was assisted on my way in under three hours total.
At no time was I treated as a number. At no time did I not get listened to, or hurried along. I had to use crutches and everybody gave me those few moments you need to mount up and handle the crutches at each stage. I felt thoroughly well looked after throughout my visit/ experience.
Well done SWAH A&E and thank you all.
