Rehabilitation - Cardiac Health

Update from Southern Health and Social Care Trust

Posted by on

At the close of last year, the Craigavon Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Team hosted a heart-warming Christmas Extravaganza at Seagoe Parish Hall. The morning celebrated the progress made by our cardiac rehabilitation patients throughout the year.

The event was a special occasion, dedicated to promoting cardiac health and celebrating the achievements of patients who have completed the cardiac rehab program. It was an opportunity for the team to reconnect with patients, share valuable information, and reinforce the importance of continuing their heart-healthy journey.

Building a Supportive Community

The Christmas Extravaganza brought together patients from across the year, creating a sense of community and mutual encouragement. For many, it was a chance to reunite with the healthcare professionals who supported them through their rehabilitation, and for others, it was a reminder of the progress they have made since completing the program.

One of the highlights of the morning was the array of informative health stalls set up by the rehabilitation team. These stalls provided patients with valuable resources on managing cardiac health, such as tips on nutrition, exercise, and how to maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle. It was an informative space that emphasized the importance of long-term care and self-management.

Promoting Heart-Healthy Habits

To further support patients in their ongoing recovery, physiotherapists led a session of low-intensity exercise. This exercise session was designed to reinforce the safe and sustainable activity routines that patients have developed throughout their rehabilitation process. The importance of regular exercise in managing heart health cannot be overstated, and this session provided both encouragement and practical tips on how to incorporate activity into daily life.

A Celebration of Progress

The morning was a celebration of the dedication and hard work of both patients and healthcare professionals. The team is committed to supporting patients as they move forward in their journey to lasting well-being. The event emphasized the importance of community support, ongoing care, and the positive impact of cardiac rehabilitation.

The morning was a wonderful reminder of how far patients have come in their rehabilitation, and how vital it is to continue fostering a supportive environment for heart health long after the initial recovery process.

As we look forward to the new year, the Craigavon Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention Team remains focused on empowering individuals to live heart-healthy lives, with the support and encouragement of their healthcare community.
