For Day 1 of our Christmas Good News, I've chosen an extract from a story which was posted by a patient in Rampton Hospital.
Good news from an unexpected place
"Being here quite some time now, I can honestly say that coming here was the best thing that has ever happened to me.
"I wish it had happened sooner, so that I wouldn’t still be here now, and then I might not have done the things that bring shame to me.
"There are lots of things that have helped me progress. Firstly, people didn’t give up on me."

What this story means to me
This story reminds me why we set up Patient Opinion in the first place: to give people a voice, even people who are locked away.
And it reminds me of something else that really matters: wherever we are, we can still change and grow, so long as we feel that people have not given up on us.
