As the Clinical Effectiveness team lead for Children’s Hospices across Scotland (CHAS) it is my responsibility to ensure that the care CHAS  provides is safe, caring and person centred.

If you don’t know about CHAS we are a charity that provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people who have life-shortening conditions for which there is no known cure. CHAS runs two children’s hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch, and a home care service called CHAS at Home.

We are excited to be part of Care Opinions innovative two-year programme for clinical teams in palliative and end of life care. Jane and Susan attended the induction day, in September, with the eleven other teams who are participating in the programme. They really enjoyed the day and found it very inspiring and informative. Lots of conversations were generated around gathering and responding to feedback to improve services and care.

We are very happy today as the lovely materials we ordered have arrived in the post. I am so excited that I had to take a picture!

Our implementation plan is written and ordering the materials was one of our first actions, writing a blog was another action. I am new to blogging so please don’t judge me too harshly!

During November we will be telling our nursing and Family support teams all about Care Opinion. During December we will be putting up our wonderful posters and letting the children and families know how they will be able to share their experiences on the Care Opinion plarform. We have the fabulous ‘tell Monkey your story’ credit cards for the children, as well as postcards, posters and leaflets.

We are looking forward to taking the next steps in our implementation plan working towards the day where when we go live in January 2018
