Not only do visual posts generally stand out and look more appealing than plain text posts, but the social media algorithms that control what gets shown on people’s news feeds actually favour image and video content. Twitter found that videos are six times more likely to be retweeted than photos. Videos on Facebook are shared seven times more frequently than links. But, if you don’t have access to create videos or don't feel confident doing so, then why not create your own images to share stories instead?

There are some fantastic free tools out there such as Canva that can help you create a professional looking, on brand image quote for you to tweet out and post on Facebook and Instagram. All you need to do is take a direct quote from a story and make sure that when you tweet it you include the link to the story (Twitter will automatically shorten the link).

Tips for creating an image with a story quote:

  • Try to keep the image clear and simple, it should be easy to read so avoid dark background colours and dramatic or cursive fonts,
  • Include your service’s logo, & the Care Opinion logo (email us & we can send it you!)
  • Ideally, the image should be accompanied by a description to clarify that the quote is from an anonymous service user about your service (specific department if available) plus the approximate date that it was shared.
  • Don't forget to use relevant hashtags in your tweets & Instagram posts
  • Reply to anyone who replies to your post!

Remember: Pushing out the message that you want to hear more feedback so that you can learn from it and improve things for people is a fantastic thing that you should be pushing out proudly.
