How we moderate

Care Opinion has a moderation policy which governs how and what we will publish.

Why do we have moderation policy?

We want this to be a place where you can read the experiences of other people using health and adult social care services, and where the feedback offered by users can make a real difference to how services are run.

So we do not publish irrelevant or commercial postings (like advertising and spam). We also reject swearing, discrimination, or other offensive language.

The feedback we publish must always relate to one or more specific episodes of care.

Ideally, we'd like any criticism of services to be constructive, however bad the experience may have been. And we don't want you, or Care Opinion, to face any legal threat from any individual or organisation which is criticised.

So that we can moderate your story and to make it readable for others, it should be 1,000 words or less.

Our moderation principles

How long does moderation take?

Sharing a story about a formal complaint

Just a note: We do not publish feedback from health and care staff talking about their experience of other members of staff or services in a professional capacity. For example, the Ward Manager cannot leave feedback about the Physiotherapist on the the ward. But staff can be patients/service users, or care for family that are patients/service users, too! We welcome feedback from them in this capacity.
