I was admitted to Ward 23 after being referred as an emergency for a full hysterectomy due to having Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, several cysts, and fibroids. From the time of me referral to my operation was only 7 weeks. During my whole experience and stay within Ward 23, I have only praise for all staff involved.
After surgery when I was back on the ward, the nursing staff were very caring and compassionate. The nightstaff were absolutely brilliant during the night after my surgery, as I was awake all night. As well as doing their regular Obs, they ensured that I was comfortable and checked that I was ok/or if I needed anything. The day staff the following day were also brilliant.
During my whole stay I was treated with dignity and respect, and kept informed at all times of what was happening.
Apart from childbirth years ago in another County, this was my first experience of being an inpatient in hospital, the first time I'd ever had an operation/had a general anaesthetic, and ever been an inpatient at UHCW. I can only give massive praise to all staff involved in my care and support on ward 23, and a very big thank you goes to my Consultant, for all of the help and support they have given me throughout this process, explaining everything from my diagnosis, my options, the surgery, and then my follow up Gynaecology outpatients appointment I had with them a couple of days ago.
