"Surgery at Golden Jubilee Hospital"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Plastic Surgery & Burns

(as the patient),

Hi,

I decided to have re constructive surgery on my lip, it was a big decision to make as I had many, many operations on my mouth since I was born. On my 1st consultation I was very much put at ease and was advised my surgery could take place at the Golden Jubbilee Hospital in Strathclyde just a few weeks later.

On arrival I was very impressed by the hospital, very clean and smiley friendly staff.

I was taken through the process of what would happen with my operation and was kept informed at all times, questions were answered with ease.

My mum had travelled with me and was advised we had a room booked, which when we went to pay were advised this cost was covered by the NHS! The hotel next to hospital was fantastic and really reduced the hassle of travelling such a long way on the day (I live in Fife), the hotel was clean, friendly and it really did not feel like I was having an operation the next day.

The day of the operation came and went with no problems and I was put into my recovery room, as it was an operation on my mouth I was to be on a liquid diet, this is the only piece of constructive feed back I have, when meal time came I was served a hot meal and it was not liquid, after discussing it with the Nurse she had not received any notes so perhaps a finer line of communication could be made here - overall my experience was 1st class, I was very surprised at the service I received and would recommend this hospital. Even when I went back to get my stitches out 3 weeks later, the Nurses were asking how I was and took a very personal interest in me which I was really quite touched by. Hope this feedback will boost moral, help to gain personal development and let the NHS know that people do have faith in them.

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in feedback – we have just got started with Patient Opinion. Thanks very much for your kind feedback on the quality of the care you received whilst at the Golden Jubilee. It is nice to hear that you are pleased and your feedback has been passed onto staff. The clinical team and catering department have been discussed your feedback and although they feel this has been an isolated event they will continue to monitor arrangements to ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition following surgery.
