In May of this year I attended RAEI in Wigan for a hysterectomy. The care I received from all the staff, especially those in theatre, was exemplary. The staff were all very caring and professional in every way. If I had one complaint, it would be about the food, which was dreadful. The fancy printed menu gave illustrations of meals on offer which bore no resemblance to the food that actually arrived. The only hot meal I had was of extremely poor quality, over cooked and over-salted. I DID NOT eat it! Luckily my husband brought me something more palatable.

Thank you for your comments in relation to RAEI. May I also thank you for your kind words in respect of the care your received following your operation.

We were sorry to learn of your dissapointment with the meals supplied during your stay as we strive to make all aspects of patient care our priority. I have passed your comment to the Catering Manager who has advised that the Catering Department are always happy to respond to any concerns that our patients may have regarding the food they provide and will attend the ward immediately any issues arise, if they are contacted or requested to do so. It is important to us that all our patients recieve not only a healthy meal but one that they enjoy. There is also a daily quality test on the food porduced and we have not had any untoward comments in relation to this in recent weeks. On the contrary we have just been given a score of 'excellence' by an Independent team with reference to our PEET (Patient, Environment and Action Team) which is a national body that undertakes qulity testing on a national basis for the NHS (most recently undertaken in May 2011)

However, you clearly did not enjoy the food whilst you were a patient with us and our catering team would be happy to discuss anything you feel would assist in making improvements to our menus and future service. If you are ever an in-patient in the future the Catering Department would be more than willing to disucss your needs at that time.
