"My C O P D"

About: Enhanced Care / Community Respiratory Care

(as a service user),

I am in my late eighties  and live with COPD. Many years ago probably about sixty, I was diagnosed as having asthma.  I have used inhalers and led a normal healthy life. However, recently I have no energy and get breathless with the slightest exertion and am unable to be active.  I was directed to the Community Respiratory Service In Banbridge, Co. Down.  I have been diagnosed as needing oxygen when walking.

The only good as a result of my condition is that I met up with the local  Community Respiratory Team. They are a wonderful caring helpful friendly group. They provide help and advice.  I recently completed a weekly Pulmonary rehab course in Newry Sports Centre which concentrated mainly on exercise, but also about life styles. It was helpful useful and yes fun.

This would not be possible without the wonderful team of

Nicola, Sarah, Brenda, Frances, Michaela, and not forgetting the student nurse Cardine.

I miss my weekly visit.

Please keep  up the good work. It is greatly appreciated especially in these difficult times

Hello

My name is Anne-Marie Campbell, Interim Service Lead for the Community Respiratory Teams. We are just delighted to receive your kind feedback for the N&M Community Respiratory Team who deliver the many strands of the busy Community respiratory Service including the Oxygen service and pulmonary rehabilitation, that you have had first hand experience of. It is so great to see that you feel you benefited greatly from the support of the background team while you are independently managing your COPD on a day to day basis. For us giving this support and access to the care when you need it whilst allowing our patients to optimize and enjoy life with a chronic respiratory condition is what we are all about. It is clear by naming all the staff you got to know them all well. I will ensure I pass on your lovely compliment to the team.

Thankyou!

Anne-Marie
