"It is one of the best things that I have done"

About: Community Forensic Services / Nottinghamshire MBT Service

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I found the Inspire group extremely helpful, having the community and sharing ideas with one another was so helpful on both ends. I found it helpful when group members would ask each other questions and have open discussions in the group. Sharing different viewpoints and being empathetic when someone was upset. It was unhelpful at times when other members were quiet/held back and not give a response when asked.

I know that I’m starting to feel better. From restarting my hobbies, making new friends, improving my family relationships and being successful in my career. I can see how far I have come. I notice it in how I think about people & situations. Before I would lead defensively with anger and fear… now I am able to lead with compassion, kindness and understanding. I am no longer afraid to show vulnerability, which is a new strength I have. I can’t believe that I was sceptical about the possibility of group therapy working for me, now I can see it is one of the best things that I have done.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience of the Inspire group. We really value hearing about how the therapy group has been helpful, and as you say it's a good opportunity to share different viewpoints, ideas and show empathy, creating a sense of community. We appreciate how it can feel unhelpful at times when other members are quiet and we hope that positive role modelling from other group members encourages people to feel safe and contribute more as time goes on.

It's wonderful to hear of all the positives you are noticing since completing the group, and that vulnerability is indeed a strength to recognise and value. It is clear you've put a great deal of effort into making use of the group despite your initial reservations and want to wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

With best wishes,

Amy (Operational Team Leader)

Dear Inspire24!,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback about the Inspire CAT group therapy. It is great to hear how much the group has meant to you in terms of the space it has given you and others to be curious and sharing views. It's so great to hear how this has helped you re-connect with the things that are meaningful for you (hobbies, friends, family, work) and I hope you are able to continue to build on this in the future.

Warmest wishes, Louisa

Louisa Hagan - Community Forensic Service Manager
