Pre-treatment scan - had to have 5 times including 2 in one day until they were happy with the result - because of gas! I could not get my insides to sit still! I was given treatment to lose the gas and then was told that everything inside was absolutely perfect.
I take buscopan and laxido which my own doctor prescribed and am drinking gallons of water to help solve the problem.
One thing I would say though is that the enemas are too weak - they do not work for me. The laxido was the thing that made a difference for me. They don’t seem to have any answers to my wind problem. I had to go to my own GP for this.
I had blood tests last September and was diagnosed with cancer in October. I went through the pre-treatment for surgery and was told that they would get in touch within 2 weeks with a date for my surgery. So, after these two weeks I started phoning but nobody would take my call. It took a month before somebody actually told me what had happened, i.e. the surgeon had left the NHS to go to the private sector.
Once this information was made known I was transferred from surgery to radiotherapy. My treatment here seems to be going well although the enemas are still useless. However I realise this is probably me because they seem to work fine for other folk.
Staff are all fantastic - nothing is too much trouble. Everybody is very nice and helpful. Treatment is going well and I feel fine.
"Kind and helpful staff, ineffective enemas"
