I have had serious health issues for number of years, which led to progressive liver disease. Unfortunately last year it got so bad that I was facing stage 4 cirrhosis. I have been under GI clinic in Fife+ Victoria Hospital for number of years with my GI consultant Dr. Gilchrist. Since June 2024 things with my condition started to progress very fast and very bad, to the point that I was dying.
The NHS GI department, staff, consultants were on the ball and did everything and beyond to save me as well as to try ease my suffering physically and mentally by attending and meeting my needs. They always kept me and my family updated, communicating , informing and practically taking care of me.
Last January I was lucky enough to receive and undergo liver transplant which saved my life. Now I'm under post-transplant care clinic, which I'm attending on weekly basis. The care I've been receiving has been outstanding, it beings tears of joy to my eyes.
I would like to especially mention: Liver Transplant Unit Ward 206 at Edinburgh Little France Hospital. Personnel such as Lara, Stevie, Maria surgeons and assessment team, physio, dietitians ,and the rest of folks. Also the Ward 44 at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy with Dr.Gilchrist, Dr.Pollock for great care especially before my transplant.
Although my GP hasn't been helpful and in moments very awkward and incompetent to deal with during my journey of suffering, the GI department really help and save my life, for which I'm grateful.
