I gave birth to my son at the birth centre last year. I can only say positive things about my experiences there. From initially attending in early labour, to discharge after my son was born the care i received was excellent. I had a long and difficult labour but all of my wishes were respected throughout. I felt fully supported in the birth process and it was kept as intervention free as possible, as i had wanted, meaning it was a very positive experience for me. The midwife was always available offering support without being over bearing. Every member of staff from HCAs to Consultant was polite, caring and supportive and I was never made to feel like anything was too much. I suffered some complications after the birth and further issues with breastfeeding so it was decided that I would be kept in over night while i recovered and to support feeding. I was lucky enough to be allowed to stay in the birth centre rather than the antenatal ward which meant i was able to have a private room. I felt involved and informed in all of the decisions regarding our care and i can't thank the hospital enough.
