As the holiday season brings warmth and togetherness, we're excited to look back at one of the most special moments of our year: the introduction of the newest member of the Care Opinion team, Bear. 🐻

Bear is here to help children share their experiences of health and social care in a safe, supportive, and friendly way. Whether it’s a visit to the doctor, meeting new friends, or learning how to stay healthy, Bear is ready to help children tell their stories and feel heard.

Check out our blog called 'Hello Bear' to read more about what Bear is like and find out how you can access our Bear image suite if you're looking to create your own bespoke materials. We’ve already seen many wonderful examples of your materials featuring Bear, like the one created by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s Oak Ward, which you can view in their blog. While you’re there, why not read the full blog on ‘Commitment to Listening to the Patient Voice in England’? Tracy has a wonderful way with words as she describes how NHS Trusts, third-sector organisations, and smaller services use Care Opinion to listen to patients' voices and turn stories into learning and change.

But back to Bear! 🐻

In addition to offering our Bear image suite for creating your own bespoke materials, we’ve also been hard at work creating our own Care Opinion Bear promotional materials. Take a look at the variety on our materials page.

We haven’t forgotten those looking for training on sharing stories with Bear and supporting children and parents through the process. As a pilot, we held our very first training session in Scotland on how Bear fits within the new UNCRC legislation and children's complaint-handling processes. Have a look at this blog for more details and inspiration! Although this training was a one-off, we plan to include it in our regular ‘How To’ webinars next year, so please keep an eye on your emails for further information.

We hope Bear continues to bring warmth, joy, and a sense of support to the children and services we work with, especially as we approach the holiday season. Whether it’s through stories, feedback, or creative materials, Bear is here to ensure every child's voice is heard in the most caring and thoughtful way.
